Keele Conferences & Events to Host Largest Open Age Soccer Tournament in Europe

Football Europe’s largest and most prestigious open age soccer tournament, ‘Keele International Cup’ will be taking up residence at Keele University during dates in July and August, with teams from all across the UK and Europe competing.

Returning to Keele for its second year, the Cup will take place across eight days, with a range of different tournaments occurring. Around 3,000 participants will be staying on campus during the event, utilising the university’s accommodation, catering & sports facilities.

During their visit, competitors will also maximise Keele’s location to enjoy a packed schedule of excursions, including stadium tours and coaching sessions at nearby premier league football clubs, and visits to Alton Towers and Britain’s largest water park, WaterWorld.

Keele University’s executive chef Peter Walters and his team will provide catering for the competitors, who will dine in stately style each night at Keele Hall and enjoy an all day barbecue on the last day of the tournament.

On the event, Sam Rooney, Head of Keele Conferences & Events commented; “We are delighted that the Keele International Cup has chosen to return to us again. It is a great event, one that attracts many different people and really utilises the facilities we have here.”

The event is the second major football tournament that has been hosted by Keele Conferences & Events in the past six months. It follows PRO FC which took place in April, the brainchild of Notts County Manager Martin Allen and current Blackpool striker DJ Campbell.
