Event venue welcomes Japanese animation, comics and culture convention
Keele welcomed Amecon, the largest UK convention dedicated to the celebration of
Japanese animation, comics and culture. The convention took over the campus and
a number of facilities for the three day event which attracted 1200 visitors. The fifth event to run since it all started back in 2004 took over a number of conference facilities hosting registration, a dealers room and a bring and buy sale in the sports centre. The student union was the venue for their full programme of evening events and meeting rooms within the Dorothy Hodgkin building were converted into gaming areas and video programming zones. The event organisers also used our conference management service to deal with 750 bed and breakfast bookings. Kathryn Cannell, Sales and Events Manager said “It was great to have this new and exciting event on campus, everyone really enjoyed the colour and vitality of the people who attended and the costumes were out of this world”.
